Morton Cahn

Double Bass



Morton Cahn started playing the piano at age 8 and the bass at age 11. He studied at the New England Conservatory with Henry Portnoi, principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He freelanced in the New England area with such groups as Dinosaur Annex, Musica Viva, Banchetto Musicale, Boston Pops, New Hampshire Symphony, Vermeer Quartet, and Emmanuel Music. Morton came to New York in 1982, where he received a Masters degree in Computer Sciences at Polytechnic University and went on to work for Bankers Trust and Citibank. He is now employed as a programmer at Netik, a financial software house. In New York he has played for Ensemble for Early Music, Concert Royale, and the Kingsborough Symphony. He studied composition with Bruce McKinney.
