Marandi Hostetter was born in the hills above Santa Cruz, California. She was immediately immersed into a musical household, her father being a luthier, her mother a pianist and cellist. Marandi studied at Cabrillo College, the University of California at Santa Cruz, and the Conservatorio di Musica “Antonio Scontrino” in Trapani, Italy. She has always had a strong passion for chamber music and has travelled around the United States and Europe to attend various string quartet workshops. She has had a wide array of musical influences from a young age, and her love of traditional folk music from all over the world has continued to grow. Having recently studied at the Alacki School of Music in Skopje, Macedonia studying under the famous accordion master Goran Alacki, she continues to expand her musical horizons in Balkan and Arabic music as well as those closer to home.
