Alex Wong is a freelance violist based in New York City. Born in San Diego, CA, he converted from violin to viola under the direction of Professor Alyze Dreiling at the University of San Diego. An avid chamber musician and orchestral player, Alex has performed in numerous festivals including the National Orchestral Institute, the Strings Master Workshop in Prague, Czech Republic, and a special appearance at the La Jolla Music SummerFest.
As an active freelancer, Alex’s most recent opportunities have allowed him to perform in pit orchestras on Broadway and national touring musicals. He had made appearances at venues such as the Majestic Theatre, DiMenna Center, Town Hall, the Boston Opera House, Le Poisson Rouge, and Kauffman Center. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from New York University where he studied under Karen Ritscher.
