Please join us this September 7 as we welcome cellist John Popham to St. Ann’s for his final New York recital before he heads to Austria on a Fulbright Fellowship. John has generously donated the proceeds from this concert to support the SOB and its programs.

John is an amazing musician with whom we’ve had the unique pleasure of working this past season through our collaborations with the Toomai Quintet. His performance of Somei Satoh’s Ruika, was one of the highlights of the season. He’s the kind of artist we most admire: as comfortable teaching and performing in public schools, prisons, and community centers as he is on the world’s most esteemed concert stages.

For this program, he will present two world premieres, a duet with guitarist Dan Lippel, a work by Alex Mincek and two new works by Scott Wollschleger, joined by violinist Pala Garcia and pianist Renate Rohlfing.
