Galapagos Art Space is delighted to partner with the Brooklyn Art Song Society as it presents its most ambitious project to date: a marathon performance of Charles Ives complete songbook in one epic evening.
Charles Ives’ collection of 114 songs single-handedly defined American music in the 20th century when it was first published in 1921. This is a rare opportunity to hear all four hours of this sometimes charming, sometimes profound, always innovative and fresh music. Some of New York’s finest singers and pianists will be sharing the stage, including famed mezzo-soprano Mary Nessinger and world- renowned Ives interpreter Paul Sperry.
Audience members will be free to stop in for an hour or two for a drink and hear some of their favorite songs or brave all four hours of music for an unforgettable experience – nothing less than the largest art song project in recent memory.
