Alex Mincek

Composer



Alex Mincek is a New York-based composer and performer. He studied composition with Tristan Murail and Fred Lerdahl at Columbia University and with Nils Vigeland at the Manhattan School of Music. As a performer, he studied saxophone with Richard Oatts at Manhattan School of Music and with Bunky Green at the University of North Florida.

Mincek has collaborated with groups including the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, the New Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra (Leipzig), the Janacek Philharmonic, Le Balcon Ensemble (Paris), Ensemble XXI (Dijon), Ensemble Cairn (Paris), the Wet Ink Ensemble, Talea Ensemble, Present Music and the JACK Quartet. Mincek has also received commissions and awards from major arts institutions such as Radio France, Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt (IMD), the Abbaye de Royaumont, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the French Ministry of Culture, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, ASCAP, the National Endowment for the Arts, MATA, and Meet The Composer.
