The String Orchestra of Brooklyn

The SOB was formed in the Summer of 2007 with the idea of providing a musical commnunity for the many talented and beautiful non-professional classical musicians living in and around Brooklyn, NY. Members of the SOB are students, professors, architects, lawyers, executives, editors, designers, and artists. While specializing in the diverse string orchestra repertoire, the SOB is also able, through collaboration, to tackle works from many genres and periods. We are particularly interested in working with contemporary composers, and presented a concert in the Spring of 2008 dedicated to the work of young American composers working in the United States.

Auditions

The SOB holds auditions for entrance into the orchestra on a rolling basis. If you are interested in playing with us, please send an email to Eli Spindel including a short paragraph about your playing history, repertoire studied, and sight-reading ability.
